money, energy and space... finding focus at the end of the year

Hey Reader,

This morning I realized there are only 48 days left in the year. Can you believe it? It crept up on me.

It feels like a good moment to pause and reflect. It doesn't have to be a huge pause, mind you. It can just be a little pause to recalibrate.

It's so easy to get swept up in the busy-ness of the season. And global politics don't help. It's easy to feel like you're riding the waves in someone else's boat.

It's easy to forget where we have influence. So I'm practicing remembering where I have agency.

What about you? As we head into these last few weeks of the year, I'm curious:

  • What do you want to prioritize? Is it spending quality time with loved ones? Finally bringing that business idea to life? Or gently bringing in new practices that will help you with your long-term vision?
  • What do you need to let go of to make that happen? Maybe it's an obligation that's draining your energy, or a habit that's no longer serving you. Or maybe it's a project that's great, but doesn't delight you and doesn't really move you to your long-term vision.

Personally, I'm working on shifting my daily practices to help me get through winter. To help me get out of bed and build momentum, I've been making morning offerings to my neighbourhood crows and working on collecting easy, easy wins. And that helps me get to the place where I can do all the other practices and projects. Things that will nurture my business, caretaking for my money, playing with ideas for my mind, and gently moving my body.

Speaking of finding what works, I've also been reworking my 1:1 coaching offer. I love that we get to dig in deeply to help you figure out what works for you on the journey to feeling confident and aligned with your money. There are so many ways to get from point A to point B, and I'm a firm believer that if your journey is feeling rough, it's because you haven't found the right path yet. You don't have to climb up the cliff face if you don't want to.

As an added bonus, it's done in a way that is gentler on me to (goodbye Zoom, hello voice calls with added bonuses). And what that means for you is I've lowered my rates. Because my capacity increases with this and I'd really rather work with more people at a lower rate.

Consider checking it out here.

Sending you lots of love,
Brittany

P.S. If you need a pick-me-up in these times, the crow subreddit has been making me giggle. This morning, it was this comment:

My murder ditched me for a week when the salmon were going up the stream, then they came back like they didn’t just show their true colors

P.P.S. If you scrolled down here because I write too much and you're looking for the tl;dr, consider checking out my revamped 1:1 coaching offer here.

Hey Reader Every time I hit this time of year, I feel slightly like I've been run over by a bus. It can be hard remembering what's happened over the last year. Flipping back through planners, journals and calendars is a lifesaver. This year? I'm celebrating: Friggin beautiful, kind words from clients (the first round of group coaching is closing this week, and I might be feeling a little sappy about it) Finally feeling like I know my messaging and positioning (how amazing is it when you hear...

Hi Reader When I started my bookkeeping practice in 2020, a business coach friend asked what the top 3 things I wanted from it were. The only one I can remember with certainty was ‘agency,’ because that’s the one that got me a funny look. Mind you, this was a couple of years after I left teaching. I was on the tail end of burnout, and all I could think about was being able to pee whenever I wanted to, never mind all the bigger things I had wanted to experience and create with my students....

Hey Reader, So it might not surprise you to learn that I could nerd out about data all day. Man, I love talking theory and playing with concepts. But I'm not going to do that to you! Instead, I'm going to try to keep it to the practical stuff, because data can really help us get where we want to go. I was in a couple of conversations last week about goals. In my world, it seems to be that time of year. We're in the last fiscal quarter, planners for 2025 are launching, and people are looking...
